EVI (Enhanced Vegetation Index )

The Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) is designed to quantify vegetation greenness while improving sensitivity in high‑biomass areas and reducing canopy background and atmospheric effects compared with NDVI. It incorporates the blue band in addition to red and NIR to correct for aerosol scattering and illumination differences, making it well suited for monitoring dense forests, crop vigor, and biophysical variables such as LAI and evapotranspiration.
